Kathrin Mays Werke thematisieren die tiefe Verbundenheit des Menschen zur Natur.
Auf der Suche nach einem möglichst unverfälschten Ausdruck hat sie zu einer
unverwechselbaren Sprache gefunden, die die Phänomene der Natur mit ihrer
Gefühlswelt verbindet.
Die Künstlerin sammelt in der umliegenden Natur, was die Jahreszeit gerade bereit
hält, das können Äste, Blätter, wilde Kräuter, Blüten und Wurzeln sein. Diese fügt sie
auf ihrer Leinwand zu ganz neuen visuellen Kompositionen zusammen. Im Spiel mit
der Farbe entwickeln sich lichtvolle pflanzliche Schattenrisse, eingebettet in den
Kontrast vielschichtiger Farbverläufe im Hintergrund.
Hier trifft Licht auf Dunkelheit, Ruhe auf Bewegtheit und es entsteht
eine kristalline dynamische Räumlichkeit, die sich immer wieder verdichtet und auflöst.
Kathrin Mays Arbeiten sprechen die sinnliche Wahrnehmung an, das tiefe
Empfinden und erzählen vom Glück in der Natur zu sein, von Leichtigkeit und
Lebensfreude und der Schönheit des Augenblicks.
Kathrin May ist freischaffende Künstlerin und lebt und arbeitet in Hameln. Sie
studierte an der Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee und an der École Nationale
Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, und schloss ihr Studium als Meisterschülerin
ab. Ihre Werke werden in nationalen und internationalen Galerien und
Kunstinstitutionen gezeigt, neben Ausstellungen in Bonn, Düsseldorf und Madrid
zeigt sie ihre Werke jetzt erstmals auch im heimischen Hameln.
Kathrin May präsentierte eine Auswahl ihrer Werke "Celebrating Nature" bei der "Re-opening Exhibition" am Samstag, 10. April 2021, in unseren neuen Räumlichkeiten Breitestraße 85, 53111 Bonn.
